'CORROBOREE' Project

UMI Arts (the peak Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts and cultural organisation for Far North Queensland) would engage three artists to study traditional North QLD Rainforest shield designs and create new designs. These shield designs will be photographed by a Nth QLD projection artist (Paul Barron) and projected onto large shield installations (by Kris Martin) at Kuranda Roots Festival, June 2017 and Cairns Indigenous Arts Fair, July, 2017.  Artist Kris Martin has managed a similar award winning project on the Sunshine Coast-  http://artisean.com.au/2010-2011-kabi-kabi-bark-canoes-project. Rita Pryce, director of Blakdance will work with dancers to choreograph a dance performance that complements the projection arts, possibly modifying the screens and projections through body movement.
